DeKalb Community Service Board and the Georgia Council on Substance Abuse will host a free screening of The Anonymous People and panel discussion on Thursday, June 12 from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Richardson Health Center in Decatur. This feature film documentary is about the 23.5 million Americans in long-term recovery and the emerging public recovery movement that will transform how alcohol and other drug problems are dealt with in our communities. Courageous addiction recovery advocates have come out of the shadows to end discrimination and move toward recovery-based solutions.
Mind Your Health—this year’s theme for Mental Health Month—calls attention to the importance of mental health for overall health and well-being. Just as Americans have learned there are things they can do to reduce their risk of heart disease and chronic illnesses, there are ways to protect mental health in tough times and throughout life. Building social support, eating healthy, and managing stress are some of the resources listed below that promote balance for both mind and body.
Additionally, to celebrate, DeKalb CSB will host a Creative Expressions Showcase event on May 15 that is open to the public. See event details.
