The Brighter DeKalb Foundation is a nonprofit organization in metro-Atlanta, Georgia, established to support behavioral health and developmental disability services provided by the DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB).
Our mission is to promote, advance and support the services provided by DeKalb Community Service Board.
Join us by supporting these services to bring hope and a brighter future to youth and adults in our community. Together, we can create a community in which disabilities no longer limit potential!
The DeKalb CSB provides more than 11,000 uninsured and underinsured adults and youth a full range of community-based public mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services in DeKalb County, Georgia. DeKalb CSB employs more than 500 staff, operates more than 20 locations and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Each year, we witness our fellow citizens reclaiming lives once fractured by depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia; severely emotionally disturbed children reclaiming their childhood; families reclaiming stability and trust; adults reclaiming victory over addiction; and older adults reclaiming joy and independence.
During the last 10 years, public providers of behavioral healthcare and developmental disabilities services in Georgia have been under tremendous pressure to meet the growing demand for these services while facing millions of dollars in State and local funding cuts. Despite these challenges, the DeKalb CSB remains committed to striving to meet the needs of county residents by providing the highest quality of services, especially to those least able to afford them. Spurred by this lost funding, the Brighter DeKalb Foundation, Inc. has increased its efforts to raise awareness and funding for services to people challenged with behavioral health and developmental disabilities in our community.
The Brighter DeKalb Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of board members from the DeKalb Community Service Board and other community leaders who have an interest in raising support and awareness for behavioral health and developmental disability services. View the current board members here.
The Brighter DeKalb Foundation exists because of generous donors and sponsors. Our donors contributions help to ensure brighter tomorrows for the children and adults that we serve.
