Join us by supporting these services that bring hope and a brighter future to youth and adults in our community. Together, we can create a community in which disabilities no longer limit potential!
Established in 2006, the Brighter DeKalb Foundation is a nonprofit organization in metro-Atlanta established to help youth and adults reclaim their lives by supporting the full continuum of behavioral health and developmental disability services provided by the DeKalb Community Service Board (DeKalb CSB).
The Brighter DeKalb Foundation’s mission is to promote, advance and support the services provided by DeKalb Community Service Board.
We accomplish this mission by:
During the last 10 years, public providers of behavioral healthcare and developmental disabilities services in Georgia have been under tremendous pressure to meet the growing demand for these services while facing millions of dollars in State and local funding cuts. Despite these challenges, the DeKalb CSB remains committed to striving to meet the needs of county residents by providing the highest quality of services, especially to those least able to afford them. Spurred by this lost funding, the Brighter DeKalb Foundation has increased its efforts to raise awareness and funding for services to individuals challenged with behavioral health and developmental disabilities in our community.
Your support can make a difference!
The Brighter DeKalb Foundation supports the services provided by DeKalb CSB. Annually, DeKalb CSB serves more than 11,000 children, adolescents and adults, 47% of which are uninsured. With nearly 500 staff members, DeKalb CSB provides a full range of community-based public mental health, developmental disability and substance use services.
Each year, the Foundation is fortunate to witness countless individuals reclaim their lives once fractured by depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia; families rebuild trust and stability; severely emotionally disturbed children reclaim their childhood; as well as numerous men and women gain victory over addiction.
DeKalb CSB presented the Brighter DeKalb Foundation with keys to their sixth residential home for developmentally disabled individuals in DeKalb County.
Grand opened in November 2016, the Summit Hill Residential Home extends DeKalb CSB’s vision to create a community in which disabilities no longer limit potential. The home will allow residents to fully integrate into the Tucker community by offering living and work options designed to meet their needs, foster independence, and enhance skill development.
