DeKalb Enterprises is DeKalb CSB's Developmental Disabilities Services Employment Program. DeKalb Enterprises provides sheltered and community integrated work experience to consumers. Sheltered Employment The program's sheltered (in-house) employment provides work for about 150 persons. Workshop staff obtain contract packaging, assembly, recycling, and other work which consumers are paid to process in our facility. Supervision and training/instruction are provided in structured work groups throughout the day. Program components include work activity, day support services, specialized employment, nursing, medical, transportation services and behavioral supports. Consumers work on a variety of contract work tasks and are paid based on their productivity. Improved consumer productivity, work habits, acceptance of supervision, and the development of prevocational skills are primary focuses of activity.
Day Support Services Day Support services are offered to consumers. Day Support activities provide a combination of facility-based and community-based activities. Consumers receive a minimum of six hours per month participating in a variety of community activities.
Community Integrated Employment Community integrated employment of consumers is offered through DeKalb Enterprises and Supported Employment Services. Instructors and part-time Job Coaches, assigned to individual consumers, develop employment opportunities in the community and provide consumers training and supports in tailoring to success in that job. The program focuses on community integration, financial independence, and employment success for consumers.
