The DeKalb Services Center provides day habilitation, day supports, and work activity to adults with developmental disabilities. Individuals served by the center must be 21 years of age or older, live in DeKalb County, and are in need of services due to pervasive mental retardation or related developmental disability. Approximately 25% of the consumers attending the Center require a wheel chair for mobility. Admission to the center is voluntary.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED
Day Habilitation (DH) Day Support (DS)
Individuals receiving DH often require intensive support, and often have complex medical and physical needs
Day Support (DS)
DS support is designed so that the individual can more readily access community activities and services.
North DeKalb Industries (NDI)
Individuals learn job skills and complete paid contract work in a small work activity center. NDI also includes opportunities for community integration activities and spending individual pay checks received on items and activities of their choice.
Senior Program
Supports and services for individuals over the age of 50. Training and structured leisure activities provided in a relaxed environment and closely resemble a senior citizens center.
Physical Therapy
Individuals learn to increase endurance, balance, general fitness and ambulation under supervision with prescribed therapy from a licensed Physical Therapist and a trainer in a clinical setting.
Medically Intense Services
Individuals with emerging and ongoing intense medical needs are under the supervision of Licensed and Registered Nurses
