This training will support participants in recognizing, unmasking and defusing stigmas associated with substance use disorders.

Specific Objectives

  • Participants will engage in dialogue on current stigmas and myths about substance abuse and addiction.
  • Participants will engage in self-reflection of ways their own worldviews influence approach and response to substance abuse.
  • Participants will learn about emerging drug trends, specific drugs, and specific populations of drug abusers in the community.
  • Participants will learn of community-based treatment and other supportive resources available in the community.
