The Essentials of Trauma Competency Training Series: The Beliefs, Knowledge and Skills of the Trauma Competent Counselor is a two-day training designed to provide counselors with the skills and resources they need to effectively deal with trauma.

Part I:  Trauma competent counselors will apply trauma informed beliefs, foundational trauma knowledge and knowledge about evidence-based, trauma focused interventions to clinical practices.

Part II:  Trauma competent counselors will apply trauma focused clinical skills and evidence-based interventions to their clinical practice.

Practical Mental Health Ethics:

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Training

April 2015

This seminar was led by expert trainer Dr. Michael Maslar, a licensed clinical psychologist and the Director of Mindfulness and Behavior Therapies for the Family Institute at Northwestern University. DBT is the most successful outpatient treatment model for chronically suicidal, self-injuring individuals or individuals with Axis II traits.  The training is a 10-day series held one Friday and Saturday per month from April thru August 2015.
